JACK WEBER |
As President and CEO of Baltimore-based Uptown Press, a printing and graphic manufacturer of print materials, Jack Weber has employed more than 50 ex-offenders, both men and women, who were incarcerated for multiple charges and behind bars for more than 20 years. Although Jack originally had fears about hiring ex-offenders, he was surprised to find that his ex-offender employees often turned out to be the peacemakers and quite often the most reliable. As a business owner, Jack believes it is a social and corporate responsibility to reach out and employ ex-offenders, giving them an opportunity to establish roots in the community and re-connect with family, ultimately giving them a sense a self-worth and preventing recidivism of the offender.
