“Find out where their heart is, where their goals
are, what their intentions are. Get a well-rounded feeling for each person
before you make a decision.”

BRENDA CARTER |
Brenda
Carter, president of a cost-effective janitorial and landscaping company,
has had extensive experience working with and hiring ex-offenders. Brenda
has found that some of her best employees are ex-offenders, and she has
become increasingly willing to interview and hire people with a criminal
background. She has found that what's more important than someone's background
is finding employees that demonstrate dependability, character, and honesty.
Aware that many companies will simply throw away an application of an ex-offender,
Brenda believes it's most important to talk with applicants one-on-one to
try and gauge whether they'd be a good fit for your organization; criminal
background or not.
